On Tuesday, September 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., the Coalition will join with an array of speakers as well as members of Richard Glossip’s family in a Rally at the site of the Ten Commandments Monument, near the North Steps of the State Capitol, followed by a Sit-In in the Governor’s office, Room 212, at 1 p.m.
Nathaniel Batchelder of the Peace House and Rex Friend, of the Coalition, will speak along with Glossip family members including daughters Christina Glossip and Ericka Glossip Hodge, sister Nancy Ogden, niece Billie Jo Boyiddle and her son Kevin.
Nathson “Nate” Fields, representing the Witness to Innocence Project, a recent exoneree from Illinois, will be a special guest speaker. Mr. Fields will share his story of acquittal of double homicide on April 8, 2009, for which he spent almost 20 years in prison, including more than 11 years on death row.
We are encouraging Coalition members, advocates and supporters to join together in solidarity during these scheduled events, believing that their efforts can help avoid a horrible miscarriage of justice that is about to occur with the execution of a potentially innocent man.
For easiest access to the North Plaza: From Lincoln Boulevard, enter the South Parking area of the Capitol complex; within that parking area, circle the Capitol building and enter the West Parking lot, and park as far to the north in the West lot as is possible. From there, take the sidewalk to the North Plaza. The Ten Commandments monument is at the top of the steps. The event will be visible and audible from the bottom of the steps if one does not wish to climb them.
