Many families of people who have been murdered see capital punishment as a misuse of money, time andresources. Murder Victims’ Families for Reconciliation and Murder Victims’ Families for Human Rights members in Connecticut, California, and many other states have played a critical role in ending the use of the death penalty and replacing it with alternatives that better address the harms violence causes to victims’ families and their communities.
OK-CADP seeks to provide support to any who have suffered the murder of a family member.
Action:
OK-CADP board member Bud Welch is President of the National Board for Murder Victims Families for Human Rights (MVFHR). After losing his daughter Julie in the 1995 bombing of the OKC Murray Building, he went through a life changing transition of how he viewed death, and the meaning of forgiveness. He met with and has become friends with the father of Timothy McVeigh, the man who was executed for the federal building bombing. Through MVPHR, Bud now spends his time spreading the message of reconciliation.
